Meet Mrs. Jones
* My husband and I have two children. Both are married with children of their own. We love being grandparents to six adorable grandchildren living in Utah and Chicago.
* I joined Granite District in 1984 as a 2nd grade teacher in Holladay. Since then, I've taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades in three different schools.
* I've worked full-time as a curriculum writer/developer for a large international educational software company headquartered in the Midwest. In that position I helped create math and reading products for the elementary market. I've also worked as a technical writer and editor.
* Serving on the Granite Education Foundation Board of Directors for 20 years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career in education.
* Music is my passion. Sharing that passion with students is one of my greatest joys in teaching. Whether it's science, math, social studies, or reading, I aim to incorporate music into the learning process. This past year, our class recorded a C.D. of our original music in a professional recording studio!
* I started playing the piano at age 4 and have been composing music and lyrics since age 13.
* My husband and I love to travel. We've explored more than 35 countries. Our favorite destination is Switzerland, where we've traveled multiple times to hike in the Alps. Close behind are Scotland, Ireland, and all of the Scandinavian countries. We just returned from a bucket list destination -- Prague, Czech Republic! We also love exploring exotic locales that include ancient antiquities. Turkey and Israel are definitely worth a return trip! Learning about diverse cultures is a passion we share.
* Whitewater rafting and sea kayaking are on my list of favorite activities.
* I love to read biographies, memoirs, and historical accounts.
* I'm a lover of words from all different languages and cultures. My classroom has a dedicated section for future polyglots.
* Conundrums, math puzzles, brain busters, and tricky problems with logic fascinate me.
* I love the theater. My favorite production is Les Miserables.
* I grew up as the only girl in a family that included five boys. Needless to say, I was a tomboy.
* I love being a teacher!
* I LOVE KIDS!
